The Bancroft School at Voorhees Pediatric Facility

Started in 1995, the Bancroft School at Voorhees Pediatric Facility is the first New Jersey Department of Education-approved private school within a pediatric specialized-care facility. This program partners with VPF to give children with special medical conditions the opportunity to get the education they need while remaining in the building with access to continuous skilled nursing care.

Students who are medically fragile or are technology-dependent can attend school and further their education in comfortable, medically equipped, and technology-advanced classrooms. As part of its special education program, The Bancroft School focuses on individualized education through a collaborative approach while remaining community-oriented.

The Bancroft School’s Benefits: More Than A School

At The Bancroft School, you won’t have to worry about your child getting the proper amount of individualized attention. The program is only open to roughly 65 children, and an impressive 35-member staff creates a productive 2:1 student-to-staff ratio that can be tough to find elsewhere.

The Bancroft School also encourages students to experience the outside world through visual field trips to the zoo or a museum, unique sensory experiences through the music education and horticulture programs, and even the chance to hear and learn from guest lecturers.

Specialized Education For Medically Fragile Students

Partnering with VPF, The Bancroft School strives to provide specialized education for medically fragile students through a wide range of services. Learn more about their educational offerings below.

Individualized Education And Skill Development

Each student at the Bancroft School gets an individualized education plan (IEP) to address their specific educational needs. This allows each student to get the most out of their schooling experience, ensuring they have the accommodations they need and preparing them for the future.

Additionally, the Bancroft School at VPF offers a collection of multi-sensory experiences to help enrich the learning environment. This includes engaging students through the school’s music education and horticulture programs.

Interdisciplinary And Collaborative Approach

Thanks to the Voorhees Pediatric Facility’s existing programs and services, children at The Bancroft School can still benefit from related services during the school day. Physical therapy, speech therapy, and occupational therapy are integrated into the school day, allowing students to get the education and care they need in the same location.

Community Focused

The Bancroft School focuses on involving everyone in a student’s education and care, including friends and family members. That way, everyone understands and can contribute to the student’s goals. The Bancroft School also offers intervention strategies for parents to consider when providing support, maintenance, and enforcing new skills outside of school.

Additionally, the Bancroft School provides opportunities for students to interact with people around the same age without disabilities. It helps prepare them for the eventual transition to less restrictive educational programs.
