Who We Care For

The Social Work Department at Voorhees Pediatric Facility is made up of a variety of experienced and compassionate professionals that are dedicated to supporting the emotional, social, psychological, and spiritual needs of our residents and families.

Social workers help address the challenges our residents and families face while navigating their healthcare experience and other community resources. They also serve as a liaison between the residential setting and a resident’s family life, home, and community to make sure your family and your child feel comfortable at all times.

Our Social Work Department advocates for resident rights and access to resources, guided by these core professional values:

  • Self-determination
  • Dignity for all
  • Respect for the beliefs and practices of different cultures

Your Social Work Team

At VPF, our Social Work Department is made up of trained, licensed professionals as part of the interdisciplinary health care team.

Our social workers have master’s degrees in their field and years of experience working with medically fragile, technology-dependent children and their families, providing a range of psychosocial services to enhance both the quality of care and life.

Benefits Of Social Work

Social workers help residents and families build their strength and ability to cope. By understanding resident and family concerns, our team of licensed professionals works with families to develop options and care plans that meet your child’s health, developmental, and emotional needs.

Your child’s team is equipped to perform supportive intervention practices, allowing families and residents to adjust and cope with the impact of long-term care placement, chronic illness, and/or disability.

We care for children that are dealing with degenerative diseases, traumatic brain injuries, complex seizure disorders, neuromuscular diseases, terminal illnesses, and many more chronic conditions. We understand the strain resident life can have on children and their families, and we work tirelessly to support you.
